7 Beaches In São Francisco do Sul: Many Options!

 São Francisco do Sul is a peninsula located in the south of Brazil. This city is the oldest in the state, being founded in 1504. It has a big historical center with a lot of azorean architecture. This is an interesting feature to explore in vacation with your friends or family, since in this way you can explore other cultures. This city also has an important harbor in the region.

But our main attraction certainly is our beaches! The city has a lot of beautiful beaches to swim, to surf or just to lay on the sand. In this blog you will see some of those. We hope you enjoy it!

Praia do Forte (around 1,5 miles)

This beach also has magical properties just like Itaguaçu. It's home for the military on vacation and it has a little museum above it's hill with a lot of history. It is a beach with calm seas at some parts of it, but it gets stronger in its left part.

Praia de Itaguaçu (2 miles long)

Itaguaçu has rough seas and a lot of vacation homes. In my research I found out that the sand beneath the hill is used to treat rheumatism. Magical! The sand is told to have monazitic properties that relieve pain.

Praia de Ubatuba (3 miles long)

This beach has a strong and wavy sea, this makes Ubatuba great for surfing! A lot of volleyball championships happen here during summer.

Praia da Enseada (3 miles long)

The favorite place for families! A calm sea makes it great for kids. It has a lot of infrastructure. Here you can eat açaí! (an ice cream-like dessert made with a tropical fruit from the North region of Brazil). There are also pedal boats and kayaks to rent.

Molhe (less than 500 meters long)

This little beach has a wavy sea. It is located in an area of native flora between a jetty and a hill. This makes it very private. It's a really pretty beach.

Prainha (around 500 meters long)

Prainha is how it's popularly called, but its real name is "Praia da Saudade" that means: "Beach of missing something", because "saudade" is a word that in Portuguese expresses the feeling of missing someone or something. On this sea is where a lot of surfing championships take place. There are also a lot of great bars that attract people during the whole year.

Praia Grande (25 miles long 🥵)

This is the most popular surfing spot and only the beginning of the beach is used for swimming and sport activities. It has a skating area too and trails that can be explored. Legend has it that during the night some parties happen along the beach.
